A BLACK JESUS opens 42. MAX OPHÜLS PREIS film festival

Luca Lucchesi’s directorial debut A BLACK JESUS opens 42. Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis on January 17th. This year’s festival will take place exclusively online until January 24th.

A BLACK JESUS is produced by Wim Wenders, who will be receive an honorary award for his engagement towards emerging German filmmakers.

Managing Director Svenja Böttger and Artistic Director Oliver Baumgarten on their choice of the opening film: „From the perspective of a former inhabitant of a small town, the film questions the consistency of our European Christian values in a fast-changing world. A visually and formally strong debut, which not only is a lively example for the work of our Laureate of honor with emerging talents, but also allows us to reunite with several nominees from past festival competitions.“

The online edition opens on Januar 17th 2021 at 19:30.

Following the honorary award ceremony with Wim Wenders at 20:00, Luca Lucchesi’s documentary film A BLACK JESUS will be accessible for streaming online on the festival platform.
